Welcome to The Teesside Flapjack Company
“conquering Teesside and beyond, one bite at a time!”

I am a lifelong baker with a passion for creating unique, high-quality flapjacks. After years of refining recipes and selling at local markets, my flapjacks gained a loyal following.  At the same time I engaged in various professional baking roles whilst maintaining our family business around work shift patterns. Now, I'm taking the next step by launching a company to elevate my flapjack venture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our flapjack subscriptions are simple and convenient. Choose your preferred subscription time period and we will deliver our handmade and scrummy “all butter” flapjacks of your choice to your door or your office either every month, every 2 months, every 3 or every 6 months depending on the subscription you choose. You select the number of months from the choice available, that you would like your subscription plan to run and we will do the rest! We don’t auto-renew, so we will send you a confirmation email to let you know all the details about when your subscription will start and end. If your payment is declined by the bank, we will email you to let you know and give you the opportunity to pay with a different card/account. If it is declined a second time, then we will cancel your subscription.

Once you have selected and paid for your subscription, and we have confirmation of your payment, this is the time frame that we will work to for the subscription period that you have chosen. We believe our flapjacks are so scrummy that you will never want to leave us, so we will email you at the start of the last month of your plan subscription period to remind you that your plan it is coming to the end and invite you to renew your existing subscription or increase to a lengthier subscription period.

Yes! You can indeed but not as part of your own subscription. A gift subscription is a lovely way to treat a friend, family member or loved one to show appreciation, share an event or just to say hello, I love you or congratulations, the list is endless, however what better way to say any of these things than with a handmade all butter flapjack.

Complete the subscription details on the website including your name and address and that of the intended recipient. At the start of the subscription, we will send the gift box to the recipient at the address you give us and an email to yourself to say that the plan has commenced and when it will end. In the gift boxes we will add a small card to say this is a gift and from whom. Any nice comments to accompany the gift can be completed when you fill in the details on the plan (rude, crude, derogatory or racist comments or remarks will not be accepted). Unlike a personal subscription, we will not email you at the start of the last month to ask if you would like to renew as this was a gift.

Note: It is your responsibility to check that the recipient’s address and post code is correct. At the current time, we can only send boxes of flapjacks to addresses in mainland UK. Please bear in mind that there are some residential addresses in the UK that we cannot send our flapjacks to or would want to, so please don’t request them.

Not currently. We bake for our many subscribers and they remain our priority.

We provide you with 16 flavours to choose from in order to make up your box for your subscription. You have the option to pick from this extensive list to make up your boxes. We like you to have choice!

Each subscription will come with its own quantity of flapjacks and so you will be able to tick the flavours you want to be included up to the amount for that subscription.

Photos of each of our flapjacks are available on our website along with flavour notes as well as a full list of allergens.

Each subscription box has a specific number of flapjacks for that subscription which is easy to comprehend on the website. You select the flavours you want including in your box and we will bake them and send them out to you around the 20th of each month. We are aware however, that if a new subscription was created on 21st, then waiting a whole month is probably not acceptable so we will aim to get your first subscription box out within 14 days.

This depends on the inclusions (other ingredients) added to the flapjack to make up its flavour. “Trader Jack” Chocolate Orange will weigh more than “Just Jack” a plain buttery flapjack. We give an approximate weight of between 150-200g. The more inclusions and decorations, the heavier your flapjack will be.

Yes, all our our flapjacks are now gluten free. For those flapjacks that have a biscuit element, we use a gluten free version. We don’t use any fillers in our flapjacks like flour or eggs.

We don’t currently cater for vegans as we promote ourselves as an “all butter” flapjack company. This is something we will look at in the future.

On advice from our EHO, we would advise that flapjacks kept at ambient temperature (office drawer, kitchen worktop, vehicle glove box etc) would be 3 weeks after which they are still great to eat but not looking their best and may break up easily especially if the ambient temperature is hot. Flapjacks kept in the fridge in a sealed container 4-6 weeks and in the freezer (suitably sealed) 3 months.

Generally, keep them cool, dry and out of direct sunlight. Chef Jack recommends that on receipt, if not eaten straight away (how can you resist?!), place them in an airtight box in the fridge especially if they are being delivered to a heated environment etc.

Remove the flapjacks from their transit box and layer them in a food-grade airtight box, and if you are lucky to have enough flapjacks for 2 layers, then add in a layer of parchment or greaseproof paper in-between.

If you are having the flapjacks delivered to your house (for another) and you are intending on giving them as a gift the following day, place in a cool spot in the house (not the garage/shed) and they will be good to give the following day as they are, in their transit box.

No, not currently!  We are a micro bakery and space is extremely limited as to what quantity of flapjacks we can store at ambient temperature at any time.  Currently they are baked, cooled, wrapped, packed into boxes, date labelled and frozen so we can keep on top of demand - we bake more than 1,000 bars a week.   We then send out your subscription boxes as “fresh from frozen” (a method employed by many cafes in order to minimise wastage).  We are constantly moving our flapjacks for the subscription boxes from the freezer to the fridge to defrost and packaged for posting.  This method ensures that we maintain the best quality of our flapjacks as possible for you to enjoy!  It is a continuous operation.

So if 4-6 weeks in a box in the fridge is not long enough, and you choose to refreeze, then that is your risk to own, we are honest in what we provide, we ask you to be the same in your storage.

We post with Royal Mail and EVRi Couriers.

Their costs are as follows: £3.50 for all TS postcodes and £5 for everyone else.  This was the lowest we could get them in 2025. We don't have a shop from which you can collect.

Chef Jack says they will be highly calorific, with their butter, syrup, and sugar ingredients and about 460 calories per 100g for the chocolate-based flapjacks. It would be difficult to include them in a calorie-restricted diet, however everything in moderation. They are meant to be a treat.  For Stockists wishing to sell for retail, we will reach out to Trading Standards for help with the nutritional values.

We post out twice a month depending on when you sign up for your subscription. We will email you to tell you when you should expect to receive your first box of flapjacks. We use both the Royal Mail Tracking Service and EVRi Courier Service.  With postal services, delays are always out of our control and in the events of postal strikes, we will endeavour to use alternative methods but we will discuss these with you, if this happens.

No, the bakery is open 5 days a week and closed on a weekend when Chef Jack and the team go and spend time with friends and family.  For subscription boxes due out around seasonal holidays, we will work longer hours around these periods.  Subscription boxes may get posted out earlier around these times especially Christmas when there is a postal cut off date.  We are closed between Christmas and New Year and over the Easter weekend but can still be contacted by email.

Use the tracker to check where it was delivered, check with neighbours, local shop, post office etc to locate your package. After 24 hours, and if there is still no sign of your flapjacks, ring the team and we will discuss next options.  Please make sure you add your correct postcode. You would be surprised how many roads of the same name are in your postal area unless you are a small village.

The only time this should happen, is if we have had to substitute a flapjack due to scarcity of the ingredients but we will let you know that when we send out your box. We have only known this happen once in the last 15 years. However, if we have genuinely made a mistake (and we are only human), and your box contains the wrong flapjacks then send the team a photo of the flapjacks you have received, we will check what you ordered via the website and if we have genuinely made a mistake, we will replace your box at our expense.

Oh, yes we love a good wedding! There is nothing more special than being asked to supply flapjacks for a dessert table or for the main event in the way of a large tower of flapjacks or for a grazing table to which we can add other bakes and combos to make it special. Let’s raise the flag for the humble flapjack and show the world that they really are delicious!  Our brand “Belissima Cakes often does brownie towers for weddings and we have done combos before where the bride wants brownies and the groom wants flapjacks!

Are you a boss, an estate agent, a car dealer etc, would you like to gift a box of flapjacks to a new house owner, a new car owner or to an employee for a birthday, retirement or to a team for achieving their targets or just to show your appreciation for a job well done or simply to say “hello”. Email treats@theteessideflapjackcompany.co.uk and let’s see what we can do.

Email the team at treats@theteessideflapjackcompany.co.uk and ask away. We will endeavour to answer within 24 hours but due to the fact of being a small team, we may be baking or delivering but we will respond as quickly as we can.
